Welcome to Anxiety Tales!

Hello and welcome to Anxiety Tales!

Never before I have considered opening a blog to write about important and sesnsitive aspects of my life, such as my journey dealing with a HUGE UNDERESTIMATED MONSTER that I lovingly call my anxiety.

My name is Lina and I am a mexican student, currently doing my B.A. in Marketing. I started this blog with the hope of sharing a little about me, so that anyone that is dealing with anxiety or with situations similar to mine, can feel understood and can also have someone to talk to that gets them to a certain degree; I am no expert in the subject, but I can definitely tell you, you are not alone!

I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) almost 5 years ago, when I chose my college major. I had my whole life planned around the fact that I wanted to become a doctor, and when I started studying, I ended up hating going to medschool! That led to huge panic attacks, tears shed by gallons daily, impossibility to focus on any given task, giving up food due to nausea and vomiting, nail biting, restlessness, among many other symptoms; I think if you are here reading my blog, there's no need of going in-depth on the symptoms of anxiety, because probably you have experienced them in first hand or a loved one of yours is fighting it.

Lately, my anxiety has been over the top, because of the fact that my long-term boyfriend relocated because of his work to another country, so you can imagine the kind of thoughts and insecurities that caused. Don't get me wrong: I deeply love, respect and trust my boyfriend, but there's times when anxiety just kicks in, floods you with irrational fears, feelings and thoughts, and threatens to destroy everything you built, but I'm not going to let it. That is another reason for deciding to write this blog.

I hope this can be a safe place to share our feelings, thoughts and experiences on anxiety or any other topic, without fearing judgements or misconceptions; I personally promise not to judge and to always respect all of you... even if we don't agree all the time.

That's it for today folks: Feel free to share something about yourself or your thoughts on this post below! I will surely appreciate it!

Take a breath and keep on fighting!
